Former US President Donald Trump expects to be arrested by the Manhattan district attorney on Tuesday, March 21. He calls on his supporters to protest

AP reported the information.

“The far & away leading Republican candidate & former president of the United States of America, will be arrested on Tuesday of next week," reads a message that appeared on Saturday morning on Trump's Truth Social page.

In the message, Trump said that the New York prosecutor is currently considering charges in a case involving the concealment of money paid to women who reported sexual encounters with him. The former president also wrote about an "illegal leak" from the Manhattan district attorney's office. This, according to Trump, indicates plans to detain him.

In addition, the former US president once again mentioned the "stolen" 2020 presidential election in his post. He called on his supporters to protest. This already happened on January 6, 2021, when his voters stormed the Capitol. After making such statements, the politician was blocked on a number of social media.

"Protest, take our nation back!" Trump called.

The news agency notes that Trump has not provided any evidence to show he was directly informed of the expected arrest. Also, the former US president did not specify how he learned about such plans.

The prosecutor's office, for its part, refused to "confirm or comment" on issues related to Trump's position and potential charges. At the same time, law enforcement agencies in New York, according to the AP, are preparing for the fact that the former US president may be charged.

The AP also writes that Trump's March 18 post echoes his post from last summer. In it, he claimed that the FBI was searching his home as part of an investigation into the possible misuse of classified documents.

  • On August 9, 2022, FBI agents searched Donald Trump's estate and found 11 packages of confidential documents.

  • Later, the US Department of Justice said it had evidence that the classified documents had been deliberately withheld from the FBI when law enforcement tried to retrieve them in June from former President Donald Trump's Florida estate.

  • On January 7, the media reported that a lawsuit was also filed against former US President Donald Trump over the death of a law enforcement officer during the storming of the Capitol. The lawsuit was filed by the deceased's longtime partner.

  • In February, the world media reported that former US President Donald Trump had received a subpoena: he kept an empty folder called "Classified Evening Briefing" that lawyers did not hand over to prosecutors during searches of his estate.

  • On March 18, former US President Donald Trump and his family failed to register numerous gifts from foreign governments, estimated to be worth about USD 291,000.
