The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a draft agreement that is necessary for Ukraine to receive MiG-29 fighter jets from Slovakia.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this in a post on the messaging app Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"Today, the Slovak government approved the shipment of 13 MiG-29s to Ukraine. For our part, during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, we approved a draft agreement that is necessary for the transfer of the aircraft. We are working quickly and in coordination so that our military could receive new 'wings' as soon as possible," Shmyhal said.

He thanked his Slovak colleague Eduard Heger for supporting Ukraine.

The Government of Slovakia earlier approved sending 13 MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine.

Polish President Andrzej Duda said on March 16 that the first four MiG-29 fighter jets pledged by Poland would be transferred to Ukraine within the next few days.
